Bend the valiant Ares with redeemer Vida AEK!
The doubles of Greece prevailed 1-0 of Thessaloniki in OPAP Arenain the game that completed the 13th matchday of the Stoiximan Super League (and the last of the first round), with the Croatian stopper scoring the “golden” goal in 59′, with a header after Mandalo’s corner kick. This was also the 4th goal this season for the multi-experienced ace, who was adored once again by the world of “Union” who once again created a very nice atmosphere.
Aris made it difficult for the “yellow and black”. Matias Almeida’s team was better, but without being able to present its known attacking pluralism, even though it had the two longest phases in the first half (in the 19th minute with Brambetz sending off before the ball crossed the line and in the 38th minute with the beam of Mandala).
Finally, AEK solved the Gordian bond through a static phase in the 59th minute, to follow in the “caps” a 6-minute… hammering from the side of the “biceps”, but without finding a second goal. Of course, Aris didn’t find an end either, he also had his moments in the fight.
Thus, AEK rose to the 30 pointsreturned to 2nd place (where he was before the start of the 13th “turn”) and to -1 from the pioneer Panathinaikos, at +1 from PAOK and now at +2 from the fourth Olympiacos. Stayed on 20 points the 5th Mars.
In… the minds of the coaches:
Keep it 4-4-1-1 for AEK The Matias Almeida. Athanasiadis, with Stankovic injured, returned to the goal, with Sidibe on the right end of the defense and Hadjisafi on the left. Vida and Mukudi are twin stoppers, while Simanski and Pineda are central midfielders. Eliasson started on the right side of the midfield, Gacinovic on the left, with Madalo moving behind the promoted Zuber. It should be noted that for precautionary reasons, Araujo was left out of the mission, while Levia and Callens (who were also out, the latter being suspended) returned to the regular training schedule.
On the other hand, Mr Akis Manzios lined him up Mars with system 4-3-3. Cuesta was under the posts, with Odubajo, Fabiano, Brumbetz and Montoya making up the back four, from right to left. The trio in the midfield were Zul, Tzuracek and Darinda (the first as a cutter, with his two teammates in the role of inside midfielders), while Suleimanov and Panagidis flanked Moron in the attack, on the right and left respectively.
Strong moments before the cross, with the people of the two teams but also the Structure “In the name of Alki” to honor the memory of the dead Michalis Katsouri and Alki Kampanou. He also played a wonderful video of PAE AEK for the two deceased.
The match:
Central play in the first minutes, with the “Union” taking the initiative of the movements. However, Aris also started to hold the ball, who even had the first phase in the match, with his diagonal finish Odubajo after Fabiano’s excellent cross at 6′ to pass out
The “yellow and black” gradually started to create their own moments, like the one in 9′when after a corner kick and a corner kick in the small area of Aris, o Shimansky with many bodies in front of him he sent the ball out.
AEK had its first huge chance, and it was a double one, in the 19th: Suleimanov’s wrong turn backwards after pressure from Hadjisafi, Zuber enters the ball’s path, steps into the area but slips before Cuesta shoots and saves, takes the “rebound” » Pineda, makes the finish from a difficult angle, but Brumbetz clears the ball before it crosses the line!
Nevertheless, Aris stood well on the pitch, not allowing Matias Almeida’s team to unleash their classic attacking pluralism. At the same time, he tried to threaten when given the chance, mainly through static phases. In the 32′ his shot Suleimanov took a lot of height, while a minute later the Russian midfielder worked well with him Ondybazo within the area of AEK, but the Athanasiadis interfered with the filming of the second one.
In the 38′ the “two-headed” had his second big phase in the first part, with Latch to catch a shooter outside the area and him Quest to jump, touch the ball and it ends up on the right beam of his hearth.
Moron had an important chance at 44′but caught a bad finish from an advantageous position, to end the first half scoreless.
The second half started without changes, with AEK having the first moment, at 48′ with the shot outside the area caught by Pineda.
Aris, however, continued to close the spaces well. In the end, the “Union” unlocked the match with a static phase and once again the “hero” Vida. In the 59′therefore, the Latch took the corner from the right, the Croatian stopper jumped higher than everyone and with a nailing header gave the lead (1-0) in his group, to accept the apotheosis of the world.
OPAP Arena was “boiling” and AEK tried to capitalize on their momentum, dominating the next few minutes and pulling off one phase after another. Huge opportunity with him Latch in the 62′while then they also threatened Eliasson (63′) and Gacinovic (68′). In between, at 65′Cuesta put a great “stop” on the newcomer’s header Ponce.
The guests reminded the 75′ that the match is not over, with the re-promoted Odubajo to threaten his hearth Athanasiadiswho at 84′ block his shot Carlson. AEK, however, controlled the tempo and even the final and took the victory.
