Ten games without a win, upsets & a goal in the final: Botafogo lose the title in the biggest slump we’ve seen

by

For her this year’s course of Botafogo and its unimaginable collapse in the last month and a half we have said it in detail, but then there were still hopes for his team to finally win the championship Tiquinio and his Diego Costa.

However, after the 0-0 home draw with Cruzeiro on Sunday (03/12), the “fogao” he was left out of the battle with the bullet as wellas one game before the final in Brazil, saw the difference from the leader, Palmeiras, reach five points.

All this while in the summer the difference between Botafogo and its pursuers it had reached +13with a short run of bad luck in September followed by seven points from three matches, cementing the club’s hopes of a top-flight finish since 1995.

Then, the total collapse began. From October 22 until Sunday, the counter read 0-6-4with one draw first, four consecutive defeats afterwards and finally another five goosebumps!

And yet, things could be very different if we didn’t have… blackouts at the end of several matches.

For example, the 4-3 home defeat by Palmeiras came after leading 3-0 at half-time and 3-1 at 83′. The 4-3 from Gremio was recorded after 3-1 in favor of Botafogo until 49′, while they followed an equalizer in 90+6′ against Bragantino, one in 90′ against Santos and one in 90+9′ against Coritiba – with Tiquinio giving the lead at 90+7′!

It is also worth noting that his team John Textor, who also owns Lyon, spent 31 matches at the top, a number that makes it third on the relevant list. Of course, she’s the only one in the top ten who doesn’t lift the cup at the end…
