Peters: “It’s tough to lose matches in the last minutes – We’ve done it to ourselves”

THE Olympic fought hard for most of the match against the leaders Real Madrid, however, in the final they bowed out and were defeated by 77-71 in the packed SEF for the 12th matchday of the Euroleague.

Speaking to the NOVA camera, Mr Alec Petersappeared disappointed with the result and the way the defeat came, stressing among other things that both he and his teammates did not have a good executive night.

Alec Peters’ statements:

“It’s tough, especially when you lose at home in front of your crowd, to lose matches in the last minutes. We really wanted this match, in the last possessions we couldn’t score. We’ve messed with ourselves, it’s not a nice feeling.

It’s not a match you want to miss, but unfortunately I, Isaiah Kanaan, Kostas Papanikolaou didn’t shoot well either. We shot at the end of the attacks and the shots that would have given us a rhythm did not come out.

Real Madrid play perhaps the best basketball in Europe. We had to make better layups, we missed layups, those layups kill you, but we have to work on them. Pressure is not the word I think of, motivation and character remain high.

We are a team that after such defeats we want to correct things, we play at home. That’s the best way to deal with the pressure and the nervousness, we’re moving on.”
