Panathinaikos leaves for Malta and the Europe Trophy men’s table tennis

For the first time after a long time, the men’s table tennis team of Panathinaikos will appear in a European Cup and, in fact, they have the right to aspire to a high distinction. For the first phase of the men’s Europe Trophy 2023-2024, he goes to Malta on Thursday, in order to compete in one of the two groups of the so-called Region 4 on the three-day period 08-10/12.

He will claim qualification with Emmanuel Lebesson, Konstantinos Angelakis, Konstantinos Konstantinopoulos and Nikos Antoniadis. Lefteris Makras will be in charge of the coaching and, also, the head of the department, Tasos Symeonidis, will be in charge of the mission.

With the addition of the Frenchman Lebesson, European men’s singles champion in 2016, Panathinaikos is presented as one of the favorites of the competition and will try to show it on the table as well, starting with the matches in the small Mediterranean state. In the Regional phase, it will compete in Group A of Region 4 against Italian Marcozzi, the “hostess” Mitt TC and Serbian Zeleznicar.

The first of the group goes directly to the final stage. The runners-up will have to play a play-off with the runners-up of the other group in the same Region next Sunday, so that a total of three teams from Malta qualify for the final stage.

The Grand Final Europe Trophy, as it is titled, will have 12

groups.
