Takianos: “Many fouls created problems for us, Hapoel Jerusalem’s 34 shots were many”

The first place in his group and the direct qualification to the “16” of the Basketball Champions League was lost by PAOK on Wednesday night, coming off a 71-61 loss to Hapoel Jerusalem in Belgrade.

Speaking at the press conference, Mr Fotis Takianos he focused on the many fouls committed by his team, stressing that the 34 shots made by the Israelis (20 on target) were many for such a close match.

“It was a very difficult game against a very quality team with experienced players. In the first half they were 10 points ahead, but we came back and showed we can keep up with them. In the second half we were better in our defensive rebounding and defensive tactics.

However, the many fouls created problems for us and the 34 shots taken by the opponent is a lot for the 71 points they scored and the possessions the match had. In the end we were at a disadvantage with the fouls and trying to turn the game around or keep the two point difference. Now we have to stay focused and rest a bit after the difficult match with Panathinaikos and get ready for the match with Galatasaray. Good luck in the future for Hapoel Jerusalem.”
