A decisive step for the conquest of the Women’s Volleyball Cup was made by Panathinaikos. In the most competitive of the four quarterfinals it prevailed 3-1 set of AEK (25-23, 25-18, 21-25, 25-17) and advanced to the Final 4 of the tournament, where he is the big favorite for the title.
In the first set, Panathinaikos led 9-2 and although it saw AEK go ahead 15-20, it managed to win it 25-23.
In the second set, the “greens” led 22-10, with the “Union” approaching 22-16, but not completing the counterattack and the 2-0 coming with 25-18.
In the third set, it was AEK’s turn to make an upset. The “yellow-blacks” came back from their loss 19-15 and won it with 25-21 reducing to 2-1.
In the fourth set, the home team got serious, escaped quickly with 20-10 and reached the victory with 25-17.
The Final Four of the Women’s Volleyball Cup will be hosted indoors by Lidos in Heraklion, Crete on March 5-6.
