Papadimitriou was invited to the U21 European Table Tennis Championship again this year

by

Malamatenia Papadimitriou is again this year on the list of invitations for the European Table Tennis Championship U21. The European U21 Championships will take place in North Macedonia on January 24-28 and Papadimitriou is preparing for her third consecutive appearance at the event.

In addition, we are talking about an institution that since its inception in 2017 has every year at least one representative from Greece together some years male and female and, if we count the two European singles titles of Yannis Sgouropoulos (2019, 2021), then in few years of its history have passed strongly on it and the blue and white colors.

Papadimitriou is pleased and honored to be included in the participants again based on her good position in the international ranking. Apart from the singles, she still has to compete in the women’s doubles and the mixed doubles and the partners will be finalized along the way.

In the relevant list, she appears at number 26 out of a total of 48 athletes invited. The number is the same every year for men and the limit of 56 entries is completed with eight wild cards in one category and an equal number in the other.

The draw for all competitions will take place on the eve of the start of the competitions, on 23/01 and for the seedings it will be based on the European evaluation table of January. In the doubles, the “knockout” system will be applied from the beginning, while the singles will have three stages.

The top eight favorites will advance directly to stage 2 and our 19-year-old champion will begin her quest from stage 1, with the top two groups qualifying.

The capital of North Macedonia will host the institution for the first time, while the two immediately preceding European U21 championships took place in Balkan countries. Last year in Bosnia/Herzegovina was held the seventh in a row and the year before in Romania the sixth.
