Olympiacos-Aris: With goals from Alba and Slask for the farewell in 2023

by

With big wins in Euroleague and Eurocup, Olympiacos and Aris will measure their strength for the twelfth matchday of the Stoiximan Basket League. Jamball at SEF is scheduled for 15:00 (ERT3, News Bulletin 247 and sport-fm.gr).

In the first round match, Olympiacos passed Thessaloniki 81-72, with Isaiah Kanaan leading the way with 25 points and Alec Peters following with 15. For Aris, Vassilis Toliopoulos finished the match with 15.

Olympiacos is coming off a storming victory against Alba in Berlin and wants to say goodbye to 2023 with a victory against the “yellows”. Giorgos Bartzokas’ team finished the first round of the Stoiximan Basket League with 10-1 record and is claiming his eighth straight win at home. Of course, it is not enough for him to just emerge victorious. He wants to achieve it as much as possible… restfully possible, as there are two “hell weeks” for the Euroleague, with four games in ten days (home against Armani Milano on 2/1 and Monaco on 4/1 and away against Barcelona on 10/1 and Baskonia on 12/1), while the match against AEK Betsson BC in Ano Liosia (7/1) also intervenes.

Aris is coming off a comfortable win in Poland against Slask Wroclaw for the Eurocup. Giannis Kastritis’ team was storming against the weak Polish team and put behind them a loss to Lavrio in the final of the first round of the Stoiximan Basket League, finishing with a record of 6-5. Thus, he goes to SEF with a good mentality for the difficult game against the “red and whites”.

Unlike Olympiakos, Aris is facing various competitive problems, since Slaftsakis was out due to a virus, as well as the injured Katsivelis, Fillios and Kalogiros. Sanogo was left out of the list due to foreigners.

It is worth noting that the atmosphere before the match is expected to be festive, since the “red and white” have prepared a series of events and games for those who “attend”.
