Dry cleaning of Panathinaikos in PAS with the aura of Terim!

by

Sovereign Panathinaikos on his debut Term!

The “clover” started the new year victoriously (as did the Turkish coach on the “green” bench), winning 2-0 of PAS Ioannina on the Avenue. THE Ioannidis after a fine cross from Bernard, showed the way to victory in the 25th minute with a flawless execution, while Villena found in the 48th minute the goal he had been looking for for months against Panathinaikos with a shot from the edge of the area. In between, Vagiannidis hit the post with a strong shot.

In the coach’s mind

With 4-3-3 Fatih Terim lined up for Panathinaikos. Brignoli in goal, Arao and Jedvai the stoppers, with Vagiannidis on the right end of the defense and Mladenovic on the left, Ruben, Vilena and Bernard will be the trio in the center, with Aitor moving on the right “wing” and Mancini on the left. Ioannidis is at the top.

With 4-3-3 and Grigoriou. Kleiman was under the goalposts, Bakadimas and Bortagarai the stoppers, with Soria and Tsoushi at the ends of the defense. Karahalios had the role of “broom” in front of the central defenders, while Riestra and Gino were the other two midfielders. Rosero was on the right wing and Pamlidis on the left, with Balan being the only forward.

The match

As expected, Panathinaikos had the ball at their feet at the start of the match, while they wanted to bring out tension in their game, while PAS Ioannina played carefully in defense, without showing any mood for a big drumbeat in the first period.

In almost a quarter of an hour the “clover” had three good moments, through which it could have taken something, with Mancini starting “hot” in the match. On his own inspiration in the 5th minute, Aitor took the ball into the area, but his curling shot was not strong enough to beat Kleiman who blocked after falling into his left corner.

The Israeli blocked just as easily three minutes later, when Ioannidis made an individual effort and caught a weak shot. In the 11th minute, Mancini came in from the left, bent over and with his right forced Kleiman into a save, with which he conceded a corner.

The Argentinian was the protagonist again in the 13th minute, but he did not take advantage of the opportunity he had to open the scoring. Because after his excellent booka Bernard from the right, he had the space and time to get his foot in, but his shot went wide after the ball found an opponent and ended up just wide.

The next chance of Panathinaikos was also pharmacist. With Bernard making a smart cross with a small lob to receiver Ioannidis, who found himself in a shooting position and with a flawless execution left no room for reaction to Kleiman.

Possession of the ball was overwhelmingly in favor of the “clover” after 1-0, since in addition to the initiative of the movements, they now had calmness and confidence. Ten minutes after his goal, Panathinaikos went close to a second, with Aitor feeding Vagiannidis, who caught a powerful shot, with the ball to hit the horizontal and almost bursting over the line, while Arao was then unable to score under pressure. That was the last good moment in part 1.

The second half started ideally for the “clover”, which made it 2-0 in the 48th minute. After his corner Aitorthe guests kicked out and the receiver of the ball was Vilena who found the net with a nice right-footed shot from the semi-circle of the area.

In the 53rd minute, PAS came within a breath of reducing the score to 2-1. Pamlidis cut in from the left, taking advantage of the fact that Vagiannidis slipped, turned for Rossero, who couldn’t do with the first, but did with the second, sending the ball narrowly wide left post by Brignoli.

The “clover” had a good moment in the 55′, with Ioannidis making a header-pass parallel to the goal and Jedvai making a header that was chased away by the PAS defense near the line. THE Aitor had a chance to score in the 59th minute, but did not find the ball well after Vagiannidis’ turn and missed from a good position.

With some small exceptions, the game went very calmly until the end, with Panathinaikos fully controlling the situation, gnawing away at the clock. In the 88th minute, PAS almost entered the… gulf again, as the Garo found himself in a shooting position, but Arao made a saving tackle.

At 90’+3′ Epirotes threatened with the Leo to execute from the limits of the area, Brignoli to do the operation and thus the epilogue of the match was written.

MVP: It’s a tough choice, but we’ll say Bernard. The Brazilian made the cross that unlocked the defense of the PAS defense in the 25th minute, putting Ioannidis in a shooting position, while he had served an almost ready goal to Mancini in the 13th minute. The Argentinian ace started very well in the match and almost everything good that the “clover” produced passed through his feet in the first half hour. In the 2nd he got tired. Vilena produced one of his best performances with the “clover”, scoring his first goal in green.
