The match

Megarida took the first lead of the match but it was Panionios who came out on top in the final, responding with a 7-0 run thanks to back-to-back points from Davies and Vergini, before Stewart and Arnokouros made it 8-7. Then, the “blue-and-red” tied up their defense and conceded just one point in the next 5 game minutes, going ahead with a “safety margin” (9-17), while closing the first period with a double-digit lead (27-17), with for Ghika to have already handed out 9 (!) assists!

Giorgos Mandalos’ team entered the second quarter clearly more focused and with Geromihalos as its star in the attack, made a 10-3 run, getting within shooting distance (28-30), before Bradford equalized at 31-31! However, Verginis with two accurate three-pointers brought Panionios back to +6 (31-37), while Davis also hit from a distance, for 34-42 in the first half!

Zaraidonis and Bradford reduced the lead to 39-44 for Megarida at the start of the third period, while the latter continued to hurt Panioni’s defense, making it 44-47. Davis with a three-pointer put the “blue-reds” back to +7 (46-53) and Verginis remained “hot”, scoring for three (46-56), before Zaraidonis and Tzochlas reduced it to 51-56 for Megarida.
