Triumph for the renewed Mars in Agrinio!
Despite the fact that the Akis Manzios proceeded to extended rotation, giving, among others, a starting shirt to the newcomers, Fetfatzidis and Rose, the Thessalonians left with a big double from their headquarters Panaitolikoprevailing with the impressive 4-0 for the 18th matchday of the Stoiximan Super League!
The score for the “yellows” was opened by Djurasek at 19′, to come to the replay Suleimanov (78′), Saverio (90′) and Samora (90+6′) to shape the final score, a game in which he stepped on grass for the first time after a year and his serious injury Manu Garcia!
With this result, Aris reached 30 points – at -2 from 4th Olympiakos -, thus going with the best possible psychology to its rematch Cup with AEK next Wednesday (17/01) at “Kl. Vikelides”!
As for Panaitolikos, he stayed at 11th place and 14 points, suffering its first home loss after a three-game streak (2-1-0).
In the coach’s mind:
THE Yannis Petrakis lined up Panaitolikos with a 3-5-2 system. Kapino was under the goal, with Malis, Duarte and Mladen in the defense trio. Torrejon, Perez, F. Duarte, Liavas and Hatzitheodoridis started in the midfield, with Sengelia moving as a hidden center forward, behind the only forward, Karelis.
On the other hand, Mr Akis Manzios kept the 4-2-3-1, making many changes, thanks to the absences, but also the upcoming important match with AEK in the Cup. Houtesiotis started in goal, with Fatore, Rose, Brambets and Ferrari making up the foursome of the defense. Doukoure and Tzourasek started in the midfield positions, with Fetfatzidis and Panagidis playing on the wings and Menendes in the role of ten, behind Zamora.
The match:
Despite the fact that both teams made several changes to their lineup, the pace of the match was excellent from the very first minutes of the match. The first good moment of the match came only in the 5th minute, with Panetolico to threaten with his energy Pereth to stop on opponents’ bodies, and Hadjitheodoridis’ shot in the development of the phase to go out.
At 11′, it was his turn Mars to threaten for the first time in the match, with the Thessalonians even “touching” the goal. Specifically, the visitors lost great double chance, initially with Panagidis’ shot from inside the area going against the bodies, and then, with the ball laying on Rose, Bruno Duatre pushed the 31-year-old stopper’s “lightning” over the line. Five minutes later, the home team squandered their biggest moment in the first half, when after Liava’s turn from the right, Torrejon, with a shot on the move from inside the area, sent the ball over the opponent’s goal.
Aris, who was in control of the pace in this first part of the race, denatured his supremacy in the 19th minute. Specifically, after a steal in the midfield area, o Djurasek he carried the ball undisturbed for many meters, sending it into the net with a long shot with his nose from outside the area!
The “yellows” continued to play at a high tempo, coming close to a second goal at 24′, with the big one double chance of Menendes and Fetfatzidis, the shots of which were difficult for Kapino and the defense of the home team. Seconds later, however, Panaitolikos almost leveled the match with the help of luck, when Fatore, with projection, changed the course of the ball, and Houtesiotis he had to have major surgery down the line!
From half an hour onwards, o race pace dropped, with the “canaries” gaining some yards on the pitch. This resulted in the team of Yannis Petrakis creating two dangerous moments in front of the opponent’s goal until the half-time, initially, with his good placement Hatzitheodoridis in the 31st minute and in the second minute of stoppage time, with Houtesiotis making the cross very difficult Sengelia’s shot.
The setting of the match was different second 45 minutes, where the pace and speed of the match dropped considerably. Panaitolikos entered the game more energetically, wanting to impose its pace and look for the equalizing goal that would put it back in contention for victory. However, despite the fact that he had a slight superiority, he was unable to threaten the opposing goal effectively.
Essentially, the first good moment in the second part came at 53′, with the hosts threatening to volley by Fred Duarte outside the area to pass a little above the hearth of Houtesiotis. After the completion of one hour of competition, Aris turned up the pace, thanks to the changes of Akis Mantziou in the lineup, thus balancing the match. In the 65th minute, came the guests’ first moment in the second half, with Kapinos taking it out Suleimanov’s tete-a-tete, after Darida’s brilliant vertical pass.
Having fresher legs in his midfield game, Aris came out more and more often in the attack and in the opponent’s 1/3 of the pitch. In the 70th minute, the Thessalonikians threatened with his long shot Menendez, while, three minutes later, Saverio’s cross from the left was saved in the corner by Malis. Seconds after the execution of the corner, Aris “touched” the 2-0 with Rose’s spinning header that Kapino took out with a terrible intervention in his left corner!
In the end, Akis Manziou’s team redeemed their very good and aggressive period in the 78th minute, making it 2-0 and taking a two-goal “air” with his close finish Suleimanovafter the nice parallel turn of the Ferrari from the right!
Panaitolikos, who had been “silent” for a long time, came close to 2-1 in the 89th minute, with Sengelia to stand unlucky, after from an advantageous position, he rattled the crossbar with a powerful shot from close range. Seconds later, Aris found his third goal of the night, with Kike Saverio na catches an excellent shot from the edge of the box, sending the ball into the far corner of Kapino for 3-0 at 90′!
The “icing” on the cake was put by Samora in the sixth minute of stoppage time, with the 21-year-old striker from Costa Rica moving brilliantly at the back of the defense and beating the opposing goalkeeper in a four-on-one with a powerful shot.
