Xavi: “It was a very difficult defeat, but we will recover”

Clearly unhappy after his team’s heavy defeat by Real Madrid in the final of the Spanish Super Cup, the Xavi.

The “Blaugrana” coach emphasized that his team did not rise to the occasion, he described the defeat as very difficult, but made it clear that he and his players will recover, since the season still has a long way to go.

“The way we started the game affected us a lot. We gave our opponents too much space and didn’t press properly. We just weren’t at the level we should have been for a game like this. We are angry with ourselves and we have to improve a lot if we want to fight for titles this season. We are disappointed. It was our worst game. Real did a lot of damage to us on the counter-attack. Apologies to our fans. We were not comfortable at any point of the match and the opponent dominated”he initially reported and went on to say:

“This was a very difficult defeat, but there is a long way to go and now we will fight for the remaining titles. I have experienced tough defeats with the team and we have always managed to come back. We must stay strong and we will recover. We have the potential to have a good season”.
