The Dutchman Dennis Higler set for the second leg of the Betsson Cup “16” between Olympiakos and Panathinaikos on Wednesday (21:00), while on the same day Montenegro Nikola Dabanovic Aris-AEK will “whistle” (19:00).
The 38-year-old Higgler was at AEK-Panathinaikos 1-1 on 21/4/2021 for the playoffs and at Volos-Panathinaikos 3-1 on 9/1/2022, with the “greens” then protesting the expulsion of Sanchez with a direct red at 44′. On the contrary, he has never managed an Olympiacos game. In VAR will be Paulus Van Buekel’s compatriot.
The 42-year-old Dabanovic has managed five games of AEK: PAOK-AEK 3-1 (21/3/2021), Olympiacos-AEK 2-0 (25/4/2021), Panathinaikos-AEK 1-1 (13/3/2022 ) and AEK-Panathinaikos 0-0 (19/3/2023) for the championship, with the greens in the last game having strong complaints from the referee. He was also at AEK-Olympiakos 3-0 for the semi-finals of the Cup (9/2/2023). At the same time, he was at Panathinaikos-Aris 1-0 (23/10/2022) for the championship. In VAR on Wednesday, he will have Croatian Mario Zepets.
Panserraikos-PAOK will be managed by Tsetsilas (VAR: Evangelou), while in the remaining four games of the three-day period there will be no VAR, since it is up to the teams to have it and also to pay for it. Kifissia-OFI will be managed by Matsoukas, Atromitos-Larissa by Vatsios, Kallithea-Panaitolikos by Zambalas and Niki Volou-Levadiakos by Pulikidis.
