Giannis Moralis sent a message about the loss of Giorgos Darivas.
The Mayor of Piraeus said goodbye to the legendary figure of Olympiakos, who passed away today at the age of 98.
“He was a great personality, a man who identified his life with the history of Olympiakos, which he loved and served for decades,” he said, among other things.
His statement in detail
“One of the legendary figures of Greek football, a real LEGEND of Olympiakos, Giorgos Darivas, passed away today at the age of 98. He was a great personality, a man who identified his life with the history of Olympiakos, whom he loved and served for decades, as a football player, as a coach and for many years as the President of our team’s Veterans Association.
Giorgos Darivas was until today the living red and white history, he honored the Olympiakos shirt like few others and from today he passes into eternity.
We would very much like – he would like it too – to celebrate with us next year, the 100 years of Olympiakos in Piraeus. But it will be there, because it will never leave our hearts and minds.
Giorgos Darivas, have a good trip, we will always remember you!».
