Statements after the victory over AEK in the penalty shoot-out and the qualification to the quarter-finals of this year’s Greek Cup Betsson, made by the coach of Aris, Akis Manzios.

After stressing that everyone in their team knew from the day of the draw how difficult their task would be against an excellent AEK, he added that Aris will fight to the end for the great goal of winning the trophy.

What Aris’ coach said in detail:

“The Cup is an institution that interests us as an organization. AEK is an excellent team. We had a very difficult task and we knew it since the draw was announced. We made a great effort in both games. We went to penalties, where the case went is purely a matter of the players. Congratulations to all. In the first half we were very passive. We equalized in the second, but at the end of the day it’s the result that counts”.

On what changed in the second half in his team image: “We spoke to the lads at half-time, we were stressed, that’s why we were passive. After the equalizer everything changed. In Aris we had two bitter eliminations in the Cup in previous years and not fair for the image we had. I don’t know if history owes it to us, but we will fight for the Cup until the end. We will be happy today and from tomorrow we are looking at Olympiakos which is a game we also want to win”.

On whether he prefers the Cup or going to Europe: “We also want the cup and to go to Europe. We are a big team, we are obliged to look at every goal”.
