A 35-year-old fan was shot in the chest on a street near Allianz Parque, the Palmeiras stadium, in Pompeii, west of São Paulo, on Saturday afternoon (12), according to firefighters. A man suspected of being the shooter was arrested. The violence occurred shortly after the defeat of the team alviverde to Chelsea, by 2 to 1, in the final of the World Cup.
The victim shot was rescued by the rescue to Hospital das Clínicas. His health status was not reported.
Images shown by TV Bandeirantes show a man in a green shirt running with a gun in his hand and shooting. There are also videos that show fights between Palmeiras. In one of the scenes, a fan is punched, falls and is kicked in the head.
The dispersion of Palmeiras fans on Palestra Itália street after the match also had a confrontation between fans and the Military Police Shock Battalion.
The confusion started shortly after the end of the match. The reasons are still unclear. With the advance of the PM cavalry on the fans, many started to fight back, throwing bottles and protection bars that were installed on the road at the police.
There were families and children there when the riot started. Tear gas canisters were fired at fans, and many tried to take shelter in establishments that broadcast the game. They all closed their doors. Palmeiras, in turn, opened the gates of the club’s headquarters on Rua Palestra Itália for fans to take refuge.
The exchange of bombs and objects between Choque and the fans lasted about 25 minutes. At the end of the confrontation, there were bloodstains all over Caraíbas Street, where the conflict had funneled.
The worker of a local establishment, also from Palmeiras, told the leaf that conflicts like this usually occur after great decisions by Palmeiras on the field. “Last time they destroyed a car that was parked here,” he said.
The report saw a man being placed in a rescue car, but the police did not allow the approach or give further information. He took a rubber bullet in the shin.
There are several Samu (Mobile Emergency Care Service) ambulances on site. There is no information yet on any other injuries.
Block
Palestra Italia street was surrounded by cordons of military police after the confrontation. The passage through the road is only allowed for those who wish to leave the place.
After the confusion, the atmosphere in the place was calmed and some fans returned to gather in front of establishments in nearby streets.
