The implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed today between the Hellenic Basketball Federation and the University of Peloponnese opens new perspectives for the development of basketball in Greece, offering academic prestige and scientific validity. This specific cooperation is expected to strengthen the scientific, educational and research actions of the EEC.

The meeting held at the EEC offices was attended by the President of the Hellenic Basketball Federation, Mr. Evangelos Liolios, the Rector of the University of Peloponnese, Professor Mr. Athanasios Katsis, the Director of the iSportManagement LAB Laboratory, Professor Mr. Panagiotis (Takis) Alexopoulos, the General Director of EEC, Mr. Dinos Sverkounos, the Assistant Professor of the University of Peloponnese, Mr. Emmanuel Houstoulakis and the Associate Professor of TEFAA Athens, Mr. Nikolaos Kostopoulos.

Evangelos Liolios (President of EEC): “It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the EEC offices and it is my great pleasure when we see that with the Memorandum of Cooperation we signed we can help the human resources of the Associations throughout Greece, so that they can upgrade their knowledge, the his level, so that we get better results compared to athletes. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I think this move will not only help the EEC, the players and the coaches to understand what exactly they are doing and how they can improve themselves so that we can all level up together, I think it is an example to all sports, to all federations to cooperate with them. You have already started a collaboration with the Ministry of Sports on many levels. To enable the sports of Greece to take us forward as a whole, because let’s not forget that sports refers to our entire society and is our guide to be able to have better people, a better society, a better tomorrow”.

Athanasios Katsis (Rector of Peloponnese University): “Thank you for your hospitality and for our presence here. The University of Peloponnese, continuing a path of extroversion and cooperation with the bodies of Greek society, today is home to a pioneering championship federation, the Hellenic Basketball Federation. We want to find and highlight ways of cooperation in the context of informing and lifelong learning of executives and colleagues in the basketball field. It is something that we cultivate and that we have developed on multiple levels. The Ministry of Sports recently entrusted us with an important scientific work. This demonstrates that the University of Peloponnese and by extension the public university can, should and will be an aid to the state in all decision-making processes. I wish good cooperation and I want to believe that this is the beginning of even better things in the future”.

Panagiotis (Takis) Alexopoulos (Director of iSportManagement LAB): “Thank you for today’s meeting. It is a great honor for us, for the iSportManagement Workshop to collaborate in addition to the EEC and with elite sports administration officials who happen to be graduates of the department of sports organization and management. We were happy to hear that 25 of our graduates are working at EEC. The “flagship” of the University of Peloponnese, which is iSportManagement, which it manages in recent years and implements outreach programs, have to do with the education and training of sports executives. I believe that we will respond to the task that you will assign us, to train, train and certify the executives that you will indicate to us, so that we will help to maximize the operation of the EEC”.
