Fasoulas: He launched an attack on Liolios

An attack on Vangelis Liolios was launched by Panagiotis Fasoulas with a relevant announcement he issued. In this the leader of the faction “Basket first” and opponent of Liolios in the previous elections of the federation.

The announcement in detail:

“As a person responsible for the clubs that honored with their vote the “Basket First” combination, as a person who has spent his whole life in the field of basketball, wanting tomorrow when I will be in front of the players of the teams and I will ask them for their vote to be able to look them in the eyes, I did the obvious:

I published my concern about the particularly important and reprehensible allegations made by a player with a background in basketball, who was next to the president of the EEC, Vangelis Liolios, throughout the pre-election process and beyond.

Luckily I’m not the only one who can’t stand ugliness.

Fortunately, there are people with a high sense of responsibility, such as Mr. Sports Prosecutor, who immediately showed reflexes, but also the willingness to investigate in depth the truth of the allegations, of those recorded in the videos of Vangelis Tsapas.

Mr. Sports Prosecutor invited me to testify, and with a sense of responsibility towards the faction I represent, in my history, but mainly in the future of the sport, I immediately accepted his invitation.

I want to publicly thank him because such reactions, with their immediacy and interest, strengthen our trust in the institutions.

At the same time, I want to publicly – again – ask the president of the EEC, Mr. Vangelis Liolios, why for two years he did not do the slightest thing, why he did not – as he should – mobilize the mechanisms, to investigate whether the complaints are well-founded or not.

He knew and didn’t move.

He is accountable to his position as president and accountable to the basketball world.

And that’s because by making a simple statement, as the head of the “Basket First” combination, the Prosecutor immediately rushed to find out what was happening.

He, who is the president of the Federation of “our national sport”, as it turns out in retrospect, kept these very serious complaints in his drawer.

I wish, on a human level, that there would be no guilt.

Silence, however, is complicity and for that Mr. Liolios is accountable.”
