Their jersey Chania will wear Boris Kleiman until the end of this season, with the 33-year-old goalkeeper being a thing of the past PAS Ioanninain which he competed in the first half of the season.
Kleiman, in statements he gave to Meso of Israel, referred to his path in the Ioannina team, to his new experience in Crete, but also to what he experienced in prison.
The excerpt from Boris Kleiman’s interview:
About his career at PAS Ioannina: “Every team I was in, I stayed for a few years. As with any player who comes to a team, it happened that the adjustment was not good. From the point of view of the city, we acclimatized amazingly. The team took care of everything.
In terms of football, we started well. But then there was instability. First the coach was fired and then they changed the goalkeeper. In the last game, along with some interventions, I made a mistake. Then the discussions started that maybe I would leave and they would hire a goalkeeper. I don’t want to be somewhere they don’t want me».
About Chania and its end by PAS: “I had options to go to other countries. I didn’t want the family to move, I decided to stay in Greece. I had two options in Greece. This team I went to (including Chania), is a good club. They want to move up, there are a lot of expectations. They were waiting for me at the airport with smoke bombs and slogans.
After everything that happened over the summer, it was a bit of a shock. I won’t lie that I was solid, but I had a lot of good games. Until the last two games, PAS was the team that conceded the fewest goals from the teams that were low in the standings. I try to occupy myself with other things and to be constantly in motion. I try not to think about them and little by little it works. All my life I solved problems on my own».
About what he experienced when he was a prisoner: “I found myself inside the cell thinking about how I got here and how all this happened. I didn’t manage to talk to my wife because the lawyer said that communication would kill me, I had to save my strength. When I was walking in Volos, people were looking at me. It was unpleasant for the family.
First they put me in prison, which I don’t wish even on those who hate me. There were mice and people defecating in bottles. I was in prison with a man who told me he wanted to come to Israel and do shootings. I told him I’m from Ukraine. After that I was taken to a place, which compared to where I was before, was perfect. We became good friends».
