End of an era for him Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool!
THE 56 years old German technician, with his statement on the club’s official channel in a video that was also posted on social mediaannounced that at the end of the season he is leaving from “Anfield” after nine years on the bench!
This is a “bombshell” statement as Klopp’s contract with Liverpool ran until 2026.
We remind you that Jurgen Klopp, from October 2015 who replaced him Brendan Rodgersreturned Liverpool to success and became the club’s third longest-serving manager, with 464 occurrencesduring which after 288 wins96 draws and 80 defeats in all competitions.
Of course, Klopp is the “mastermind” of his conquest Champions League in 2019her Premier League in 2020which was also the first championship of the “reds” after 30 years, while among others he won a European Super Cup, a World Club Cup, an FA Cup, a League Cup and a Community Shield.
In his statement, Klopp said:
“I understand it’s a shock to a lot of people right now when you first hear it, but I can explain it, or at least try. I love everything about Liverpool, the city, our world, the team, my partners, everything. But the fact that I am making this decision shows that I am convinced that I must make it. The reason is that—how can I say this?—I’m running out of energy. I’m fine now, obviously, I knew I’d have to announce it at some point, but I’m fine now. I know I can’t do the work over and over and over“, said the 56-year-old coach.
“After the years we’ve spent together and what we’ve been through together, respect has grown for everyone and so has my love, so I owe you the truth and this is the truth. I have informed management since November. When we sat down to talk, as we always do ahead of next season, the thought came that I’m not sure I’ll be here. I was surprised myself. I started to think about it, it didn’t start this year but from last year when it was a very difficult season and there were moments where if I was in another team I would have said ‘thank you all but we have to part ways now’. It was very important for me to help get the team back on track. It was all that was on my mind. When I realized that it was done, that we had a really good team with huge potential and a very good age, with great characters and all that, then I could think about myself again and that was the decision I made. It’s not what I want to do, but it’s what I think is 100% right“, he added.
“Klopo” is in no hurry to say goodbye to Liverpool before his time. “We will have our moment in the last matchday or some other time, in some other competition maybe. There is time for that. Now we have to stay focused on our obligations. Outsiders will want to use it, laugh at it, upset us. But we are Liverpool, we have been through more difficult situations together, and before me. Let’s take strength from it. It would be very beautiful. Let’s make the best of this season and have another reason to smile when we look back on this season in the future“, he pointed out.
The chairman of the company that owns Liverpool’s fortunes, Mike Gordonhe said: “On behalf of John Henry and Tom Werner, I want to express our appreciation to Jurgen. Needless to say, we are deeply saddened to lose not only a coach of such caliber, but also a man and leader whom we greatly respect and to whom we are grateful. But on the other hand, we fully respect his desire and the reasons he decided that this season will be his last in Liverpool. Out of respect for his wishes, we will leave the honors for the appropriate time recognizing that his hiring was one of the greatest blessings of the period we are owners. The team’s achievements during this time speak for themselves, as do the joys it offered to all of us fans. We are convinced that he will continue to make us happy until he leaves».
At the same time, he added that “… thanks to his professionalism and dedication to Liverpool’s interests, we can continue our work for the remainder of his term and at the same time prepare for the future. Our priority is now two-fold: Firstly, to ensure that the progress made racing this year continues until the end of the season and secondly that we proceed with the preparation and adaptation of the next day without Jurgen. As always, we will have the best interests of the club and our fans at heart, who we will keep informed when concrete progress is made. Finally, I want to thank Jurgen for what he has done and continues to do for Liverpool. Jürgen, when the time comes You will never alone».
