Earlier on Thursday (01/02), SkySports announced that the great Lewis Hamilton will leave her Mercedes at the end of 2024, so as to join the Ferrari. Although at first it looked like… a lie, the ‘little horse’ did indeed announce the huge ‘bang’, with the Brit taking his place next to Charles Leclerc from 2025!
“I’ve had an amazing 11 years with this team and I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved together. Mercedes has been a part of my life since I was 13. It’s a place I’ve grown up in, so the decision to leave was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. But the time is right for me to take this step and I’m excited to take on a new challenge.
I will forever be grateful for the incredible support of my Mercedes family, especially Toto Wolff for his friendship and leadership and I want us to finish on a high together. I am 100% committed to delivering the best performance I can this season and making my last year with the Silver Arrows one to remember.” was his statement Hamilton on his decision to leave Mercedes.
O Lewis Hamilton is generally considered one of the top pilots in motorsport history. He owns it record wins (103), pole positions (104) and podium finishes (197)being tied at the top of the Championships with Michael Schumacher, with 7 titles!
