Playing aggressive and dynamic defense, the hosts kept their opponent to zero in the first 3.5 minutes. In the same period, Poirier and Hezonia connected with the opposing basket, shooting the difference to +17 (52-35), reaching up to at +18 for 55-37 a bit later. Then, Villeurbanne turned up the heat and with the three-pointers of Thomas, Scott and Leidy it was reduced to 8 (56-48) in the 28th minute, before Real found solutions in the finale and closed the quarter at +12 for 62-50.
In the fourth and final period, Real Madrid properly managed their lead, which they even extended to +16 (77-61), before the French reduced it in the final for the final 86-79.
