Poget: “I spent seven months at AEK, I am tied to Greece”

His first interview as a Federal coach National Greece gave o Gustavo Poget.



The 54-year-old Uruguayan spoke on the show Penal Point of his homeland for them targets of National Greece, for the competitive level of our country, while he also referred to its passage through AEKthrough which it was connected with our country.

For the National Team of Greece: “I spent seven months at AEK and it was one of the places where I did my best. There has always been a relationship with Greece, I am attached to Greece and life brought me here.

Greece did not qualify for the Mundial, I was offered this option, I had many meetings and went to research and see what is happening in the country. The goal is Euro 2024. First I was asked to lead the team in the Nations League. This is a tournament that emerged a few years ago. We are at the third level and we will fight with opponents with whom we are supposed to be at the same level. From there, qualification for the European Championship is given. Therefore we aim to have a good Nations League and to be 1st in the ranking ”

For the level of Greek football: “In the last three or four years, they have started exporting players. They have players in the Premier League, in Portugal, in the Netherlands, in Turkey. “There is potential we can muster.”

About how Greeks live football: “They are very similar to us. They are passionate. The proximity of National Greece to the public was lost a bit due to the results of the last years of the National, but also of the pandemic. “I understand, however, that it is necessary to create this climate, where our opponents will find it very difficult to come and play at our headquarters.”
