Neymar should strengthen PSG against Real Madrid in the Champions League

by

On the eve of the match between Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid for the round of 16 of the Champions League, this Tuesday (15), coach Mauricio Pochettino tried to keep a mystery about Neymar’s return to the French team, but the defender and captain of the team Marquinhos stated that shirt 10 is ready for the game.

“For sure he [Neymar] is ready. EParticipated in training. Let’s see the coach’s choices, to play or leave him on the bench. I don’t know what his choice will be. But he is ready for the match against a great team. It’s the time when you have to push yourself and he’s ready for it.”

The first leg between the French and Spanish will be played at the Parque dos Príncipes stadium, at 17:00 (Brasília time) – SBT, TNT and HBO Max will broadcast the game. The return match will be on March 9th.

The match in Paris is expected to mark Neymar’s return to the pitch after the forward spent more than two months recovering from a left ankle injury.

The Brazilian has not been on the field since November 28, when he played in PSG’s 3-1 victory over Saint-Étienne in the French Championship.

In recent days, he returned to training with his teammates, but, according to the French press, he would not be able to play for 90 minutes against Real. For that reason, Pochettino has avoided nailing his comeback.

“My decision is whether Neymar will play tomorrow or not, 90 minutes or less. I won’t say anything for now,” said the coach.

If the Brazilian’s return is still uncertain, the presence of Spanish defender Sergio Ramos is ruled out. The player is still recovering from a calf injury and for that reason does not face his former team.

While the defender will not meet the Madrid team again, Lionel Messi will once again face the club he got used to being executioner against during his victorious spell at Barcelona. The PSG coach himself stated that he has great expectations about the Argentine for the round of 16. “We hope he plays a good game,” said Pochettino.
