It broke out with an incredible streak in Brazil and Greece is going for the first place with France!

As if in training, Brazil was also swept by the men’s national polo team, which made it 2/2 in the group, winning with the impressive 23-4.

The team of Thodoris Vlachos kept “0” in defense for 18 minutes, from the end of the first eight minutes until three minutes before the end of the match and celebrated another impressive victory, after the one against China.

Now, he has the upper hand to win the first place in the group, which leads directly to the quarter-finals. This will be decided in the last match of the groups, which is also the most difficult for the “blue and white”, against France, on Friday (9/2) at 18:00.

Gennidounias and Argyropoulos made it 2-0 for Greece early in the match, with the Brazilians reducing to 2-1 through Guimaraes and leveling at 2-2 through Pedro Real.

With a series of two goals, Greece came forward again, with scorers Kalogeropoulos and Papanastasiou, reducing Brazil – for the last time – with Pires to 4-3.

Gillas and Kalogeropoulos made it 6-3 in the first period and paved the way for the long run of the National Team, which with a good defensive function (and in combination with the weakness of the opponent) kept its goal intact from the sixth minute of the first eight minutes until… just before the end.

Kalogeropoulos with his third personal goal made it 7-3, while after great opportunities, Kakaris found the net from two meters for 8-3. Fountoulis and Nikolaidis made it 10-3 at halftime.

The second half continued like a training session for the National Team, with a partial 6-0 run with five different scorers (Argyropoulos, Gillas with two goals, Skoubakis, Foudoulis, Papanastasiou) pushing the score to 16-3.

Kakaris with two goals at the beginning of the fourth period made it 18-3, Genidounias increased the score more and Argyropoulos with a penalty made it 20-3.

With two goals, Fundoulis extended to 18-0 the streak of the National team, which was stopped by Pires’ goal for the Brazilians, the first after 18 minutes of competition. Papanastasiou made the final 23-4.

Greece (Vlachos): Zerdevas, Gennidounias 2, Skoubakis 1, Giuvetsis, Fundoulis 4, Papanastasiou 2, Gillas 3, Argyropoulos 3, Kakaris 3, Nikolaidis 1, Kalogeropoulos 3, Papanikolaou 1, Tjortzatos

The eight minutes: 6-3, 4-0, 6-0, 7-1
