De Laurentiis: “I expected Spalletti to win the Champions League last year”

by

Last season the Naples ended 33 years without a championship by winning the coveted Scudetto under his guidance Luciano Spallettiwhich once again brought smiles to an entire city.

The sequel, however, it was not the same. At the end of the season, the Italian coach left the “Partenopei” bench and this year things are not going well for the team from the Italian south. It is also indicative that he was defeated in the Super Cup final, was left out of the Cup and in the league he is inthe -22 from the topaiming to enter the top four for the Champions League ticket.

The administrative leader of Napoli, Aurelio De Laurentiistalked about the “divorce” with Spalletti, denying that the relations between them were not good, while he emphasized that he expected him to conquer last year and the Champions League (eliminated in the “8” by Milan).

I expected Spalletti to win the Champions League last year. Instead, Inter came one step away from the trophy, finishing 20 points behind us in the standings. It’s not true that we didn’t have good relations. On the contrary, I was absent given the big score difference we had from our opponents“, he initially said and continued:

I was the president and he was the coach, finally. He was telling me that he wanted to heal some things and leave. The most important players in the club’s history I brought them. I also brought Giudoli and not Spalletti. Don’t forget that when he finished third, everyone was telling him that he should retire“, were, among other things, his words De Laurentiis.
