The Portuguese midfielder of the “red and whites” focused on the team’s need to return to positive results after its defeat in the derby against Panathinaikos, while at the same time he emphasized that the Piraeus have a winning mentality and keep alive their hopes of winning the title.
In detail what he said:
On the atmosphere in the dressing room after the derby defeat: “Our team has a winning mentality and right now they are coming off a loss in a very important game. Our mind is only on how to recover. We have to play a good game and get the win against OFI. That’s where all our focus is.”.
On whether Olympiacos can still fight for the title: “Since we have to play three more times with the first in the standings, there are certainly hopes. We should beat PAOK three times and of course all the other games. I know that sounds like a lot, but this is the way we have to go. We will start with the match against OFI, then we have to watch the game with Ferentsvaros and then PAOK. To see each thing in its moment and collect victories and points”.
On his fit and the position he likes to fight: “My adjustment is going quite well. I’ve been here for a while but everyone has been extremely welcoming and helpful. The fact that there are several Portuguese in the team makes it easier, but everyone has welcomed me very well. I am in a very big club and I am used to playing in big clubs and I know there are demands.
Right now the only thing on my mind is the results. We all have to work together for the good of the team and win the games. The results will give us the confidence we need and help us all do better in the future. All together as a group we must give the correct answers.
The position I prefer to race is at ‘8’. I like being in the center of the pitch, organizing the play, distributing the ball and always looking for the best option to pass. I think I can perform better there. Of course I’ve played in other positions and I’m available to help wherever I’m asked, but I like playing as a box to box midfielder”.
