Almeida: “I still haven’t decided on the Garcia or Ponce dilemma”

by

Statements to NOVA’s camera ahead of the big derby with PAOK (11/2, 20:00), the AEK coach made, Matias Almeida.

After stating that his team’s preparation has gone smoothly, he stressed that he is not thinking about the winning streak that he is “running” against the “Northern Doubleheader”, adding that he has not yet decided whether to use Ezequiel Ponce or Levi Garcia, in the top of his attack.

What the AEK coach said in detail:

About how the week went in preparation for PAOK: “It was a good week for work. Players missing from competitions were integrated. We are ready for the game”.

On whether AEK’s unbeaten streak in derbies is due to the winning mentality the team now has: “I don’t think about that much. I think about everyday life and being competitive. We were mainly thinking about the team and not a derby or an opponent.”

Regarding the fact that against PAOK in six matches, he has just one loss: “I don’t think about anything different. As always I do the analysis of the opponent. We are going to play an opponent who is one of the teams that play good football. I don’t dwell on what happened, but I think about what we can achieve”.

On the fact that he and Lucescu are the only ones left on the bench from last year: “May we continue for a long time. I believe that both PAOK and us have two competitive teams. Two teams playing beautifully. It’s going to be a big game.”.

Regarding the Ponce or Levia dilemma and whether it has been resolved: “Not yet, I still have 24 hours”.
