Olympiacos-Prometheus Patras: The favorite and the outsider for the ticket to the final

by

A few hours after they got the ticket for the semi-finals Olympiacos and Prometheus of Patras will face each other (17/2, 21:00, SKAI, Cosmote Sport 5, www.sportfm.gr, News Bulletin 247), for a place in the final of Final 8 of the Cup.

The “red and white” started their duties in Heraklion with the match against Pigeon bwin. From start to finish his players Giorgos Bartzokas they were serious and concentrated and without leaving room for a reaction to the Peristerians, they won the comfortable victory with a score of 87-68.

However, this match also had a negative development for Giorgos Bartzokas’ team. And that’s because, o Nigel Williams-Goss he managed to step on the floor a little less than 45”. The American guard has a muscle spasm that will definitely leave him out of the semi-final.

From here on, his place in the dozen is expected to be taken by Ignas Brazdeikiswho was out against Peristeri bwin, while of course the injured is not counted Nikola Milutinovbut also the Shaquille McKissick and Luke Sikmawho do not have the right to participate in the domestic competitions.

On the contrary, the Prometheus clearly had an easier task in the quarter-finals, as they played a team from the Elite League. Specifically, the Patrinos faced him Panionio and turning the match into a good workout, they crushed him 88-48, getting the qualification. In fact, the team from the capital of Achaia is expected to be quite… fresh, since against the “blue and red” the playing time was divided among the players and none of them overworked themselves.

In the meantime, the two teams have already met twice this year in the Stoiximan Basket League, where Olympiacos he made it 2/2. In the first round, the Piraeus won 92-75 in SEF (11/11), while about two weeks ago (4/2) the “red and white” they won 81-57in the game that took place in Patras.
