Terrible rants and affirmations of the absolute respect and… adoration they have for one another included the speeches of Dimitris Melissanidis and Matias Almeida in its brilliant manifestation cutting the veterans’ pie of AEK, which took place on Monday evening (19/2) at the “Byzantino” restaurant of OPAP Arena.
In an event attended by the entire “Union” family and in which both its coach and the Steven Zuber by Dusan Bajevic. In fact, Matias Almeida also had a warm handshake with the polyvinous AEK coach.
During his speech, Dimitris Melissanidis focused on what convinced him that the Argentinian coach is doing for “Union”.

Earlier, Dimitris Melissanidis during his award from Thomas Mavro explained that “I became AEKtzis because of Nestorides, but my capsule was Thomas. In detail, what Matias Almeida said during his award from AEK veterans:
“First of all, it is a great honor for me to spend today with you. I’ve been at this wonderful club for 1.5 years now and it’s a place that never ceases to positively surprise me. Here today there are a lot of former footballers, a manager who gave a lot of joy, so we can say that there is a big part of the living history of the club. Where I respect them, I admire them and personally as an ex-footballer, I feel very happy to see that the club is honoring these people. In general, when someone stops playing football, they are often forgotten. What I see here is that I am for the second year in a row at the veterans’ pie cutting and they not only remember but also honor these faces.
There are always many people that I will remember in my life for different reasons. One of them is my father for what he offered me in life, second is the god I believe in and then football made me meet a lot of people. Football is 80% of my life. And along my football journey I have met people like those on my staff.
With two of them we have played together, the other gave me a massage when I was a footballer, with some we have known each other for twelve years and for this reason I continue with them but I am also grateful to the people who give me work. The first meetings when I did with Mr. Kone, I wanted to come to the club. I dreamed about it sometime after the first meetings. Until I had the meeting with Mr. Melissanidis.
In the first meeting with him, I was convinced that I should work with him. I didn’t know what it was that caused it. If it was fear or something else but I knew I had to work with him. This man does many things well. The story I wrote at AEK is thanks to this gentleman. Thanks to this gentleman I have met footballers, I have met a lot of people, Kone, the legal staff, the team people and I am happy to be here.
My story doesn’t just end with football. I delve into not only those I mentioned but everyone who is here, whether they are masseurs or those who work on the field. So I delve deeper, not only into the love you give me but also into the amazing culture you Greeks have. In some situations I feel like I’m in Argentina. I feel like I’m in my home country.
