Today is Maradona’s debut with the Argentine national team

On this day 27 years ago something very “small” happened that would change the history of world football.

Maradona entered for the first time on the playing field of “Bobonera” wearing the jersey of the national team of Argentina. It was the 70th minute of the match against Hungary when national coach Cesar Luis Menotti handed the then 16-year-old Diego, who had made just 11 appearances in the domestic league, his maiden cap.

It was the beginning of the “dream”, since later in his career he would become, according to many, the top soccer player of all ages. Until Lionel Messi comes as his “descendant” to continue the work on earth.

With “Albiceleste” the late “keeper” of the ball found himself in four World Cups, in two of them he reached the final and won the “golden” trophy once. In the tournament in Mexico in 1986 against West Germany.

In total he recorded 91 appearances and 34 goals, offering unforgettable moments culminating in winning the World Cup.
