Djokovic: ‘Nadal and Federer are part of my evolution – A part of me is leaving with them’

by

After many years of great rivalry and great matches, the “golden age” of tennis she walks slowly towards her curtain.

THE Roger Federer has already retired from active action, o Rafa Nadal he is also taking the last steps in his career, while only Novak Djokovic is left to… represent 100% the Big Three that changed tennis forever.

Even though he spent all the years of his career having as great rivals the other two, o Serbian tennis player he has nothing but respect for them. In fact, speaking ahead of the Indian Wells tournament, he apothesized Federer and Nadalemphasizing how they greatly influenced his development as an athlete.

In detail what he said:

For his big rivals: “Nadal, Federer and Murray are an integral part of my development as a player. A lot of what I’ve achieved has to do with my opponents. When you realize it’s all coming to an end, it’s like the end of an era. We have lived together so many great games, so many wonderful moments, perhaps the greatest rivalries that have ever existed in tennis. Let’s see how much longer we can last. It is a great shame that Nadal retired, both for the tournament and for himself. We traveled to America together, coincidentally, and I was happy to see him and his family.”

On how many Grand Slams he would have if he didn’t coexist with Federer and Nadal: “It would probably be fair to ask them the same question. I don’t think so, I’m grateful to have had them as opponents. It took me a long time to crack the code of Nadal and Federer. I remember McEnroe, when Borg retired, saying that a part of him retired with him, and my own feeling is similar for those two.”
