Olympiacos returned to the Final 4 of the Champions League!

The ticket to Final 4 of the Champions League in the women’s pole, Olympiacos triumphantly sealed it! The “red and white” prevailed 14-9 of Vouliagmeni in the Greek derby of the 4th group and won the first place, finishing in the top four teams of the competition.

With the three points, Olympiacos reached 15 and is +6 ahead of the second Vouliagmeni, one game before the final. Therefore, it goes indifferently to the last match, in which it will face at home Mediterranean. Vouliagmeni, on the other hand, will face her Uipest.

The Piraeus team will find against them three teams from Spain in the Final 4, after qualification has been secured by Sabadell, St Andrew and Mataro.

The match started perfectly for the “red and whites”, who made it 3-0 early with two goals from Xenakis and one from Pleuritou. Ridge reduced it to 3-1 for NOV, but Xenaki again sent the ball into the net, for the 4-1 of the first eight minutes.

Santa and Eleftheriadou increased the difference to +5 (1-6). NOV temporarily reduced to 6-2 with a goal by Andreadis, but Vasso Pleuritou answered in the last seconds and made the 7-2 of the first half.

Vouliagmeni came on strong in the third quarter, went on a three-goal streak (Slicking, Ridge, Justra) and cut to 5-7, giving new interest to the match. Xenaki gave Olympiakos a breather for 8-5, with the match catching fire in the last minute, with four goals.

Slicking cut it back to 8-6, with Suti answering at 12” (6-9). Slicking reduced again to 4” (7-9), with Xenaki leading 10-7 at the end of the third period.

In the fourth eight minutes, Olympiacos widened the gap again, with goals from Eleftheriadou and Hydiriotis (7-12). Justra cut to 12-8. The final 14-9 formed with two goals by Suti for the “red and white” and one goal by Slicking for NOV.

The eight minutes: 1-4, 1-3, 5-3, 2-4.
