Our National Youth Team triumphed in Budva, Montenegro, in the context of the Boxing World Cup, held from March 3 to 10, proving once again why Greek Boxing is the new global power of the Sport.
The “blue and white gloves” won 4 Medals, two Golds and 2 Bronzes filling the fans of the sport with joy and pride since by winning these medals the National Boxing Team reached the top goal of winning 100 medals in International Events within 3 years , with these performances being a dazzling and impressive performance for our National Team. The dedication, talent, team spirit and hard work shown by our athletes and our coaches are the result of this great run.
At the “Youth World Boxing Cup Adriatic Pearl”, Greece emerged as a dominant force with Anna Maria Triphylli at 48 kg and Emmanuel Fotiadis at 63.5 to win the 2 gold medals in their categories, while Maria Georgopoulou climbed to the third step of the podium in the 50 kg category and Urania Kanzari at 57 kg.
In detail at the Boxing World Cup, Anna Maria Triphylli in the final of her category (48 kg) defeated her Russian opponent Zrianina Daria and deservedly won the Gold Medal.
Emmanuel Fotiadis (63.5 kg) in the final match against the Cuban Yoelvis Leyan gave a sensational fight and prevailed universally winning the 2nd Gold Medal for Greece.
Urania Kanjari, (57 kg) fought hard in the ring and despite her very good appearance she did not manage to overcome the obstacle of Singh Angal Kumari from India and finally won the Bronze Medal.
Maria Georgopoulou in the semi-final of her category (50 kg) with the Indian Baharanin dharma Nadita did not compete due to her sudden illness, thus remaining in the third place of the podium.
