Serious Olympiakos, “blocked” Milos and took the lead for the finals

by

She confirmed the title of the favorite and took the lead to qualify for her finals Volleyball League o Olympiacos. The “red and white” were absolute dominant in the block and the serve for three sets and although they saw I was talking to show resistance to Rentis, prevailed 3-0 set making it 1-0 in the semifinal series.

Very good performance by Koumendakis and Dzuric for Olympiakos, who on Thursday (14/2) will go to Nea Smyrni for the break to make their work easier ahead of the third semi-final.

The match:

A dynamic start in “Melina Merkouri” by Milonas who did not show…fished and with a quick run he was ahead with a score of 4-0, but the reaction of Olympiakos was immediate and with a partial 5-0 overturned the facts for the 5-4. The hosts could not easily find answers to the first-time attacks created by the visitors with the score going for a long time in the draw.

Milonas, however, with Her the creator and the Yordanovs, Basis providing solutions to the scoring, found themselves at +3 again, (12-15). Castellani’s team reacted with Hidalgo and Koumendakis breaking the reception of Neosmyrniots, tying the match at the most crucial point for 21-21. In fact, an impressive block by Djuric and another one by Gustavo on Molina brought Olympiakos to +3 24-21 and finally to capture the first set with a score of 25-22.

The picture of the second set is similar, with Milos playing against Olympiakos on equal footing. Sakis Psarra’s team had picked up a very good rhythm from the service line with Basis and Her making it difficult for the “red and white” reception which under the circumstances produced a reaction with the “towers” Gustavao and Djuric managing to detach Olympiakos from the aggressive dystocia. The tie was a permanent situation in the second set with neither team managing to escape above the difference of two points.

Hidalgo and Koumendakis, however, stepped on the “gas” helping Olympiacos to reach +5 (23-18) at a crucial point and eventually take the set 25-22.

Olympiacos had no desire to lose a set and proved it in the third set, coming back from Milos’ 5-4 and bringing the match to the permanent difference of two points. Pagenk stepped into the equation replacing Gustavo and adding more athleticism to the block with the Reds leading by as many as three points (18-15, 19-16). Milon gnawed away at the difference by reducing it to a point due to the wrong serves from the opposite “bank”, but the same phenomenon and Djuric’s ace brought the score to 22-19 for Olympiakos and three points from victory.

Psarras called a timeout, but nothing changed with Olympiacos reaching 3-0 after and 25-20.
