Defeat by Iceland for the National handball team

Defeat for the men’s national handball team against the powerful Iceland in the warm-up friendly, ahead of the World Championship play-offs against the Netherlands. The representative group lost 22-33, having a good half and a second with many mistakes due to the changes made by Giorgos Zaravinas.

Greece led 6-3 and 9-7, with the Icelanders responding with 3-0 runs for 9-10 and 10-13, while the half ended 13-15.

At the start of the second half, Greece tied the score at 15-15, 17-17 and 19-19, but a very poor quarter allowed the Scandinavians to go on a 7-0 run, reaching 19-26, 20-28 and final score.

Savvas with 7 goals and Toskas with 4 goals were the leaders of the representative group.

On Saturdays, at 19:15, the two teams will meet again at the Korydallos stadium in the second and final match.
