Fábio Carille, 48, is no longer Santos’ coach. The coach’s departure was announced by the club this Friday (18), the day after the 3-2 defeat to Mirassol, for the seventh round of the Paulista Championship.
The alvinegro team came to be losing by 3 to 0 with only 35 minutes of departure. The reaction in the final stage, however, was not enough to avoid the setback in the interior of the state.
On Sunday (20), the Vila Belmiro team hosts São Paulo, their second classic of the season – in the first, they beat Corinthians 2-1, in Itaquera.
“Santos FC communicates that Fábio Carille leaves the role of coach of the professional team this Friday. The departure took place in common agreement between the board and the coach”, said the club in a statement.
Assistant Leandro Silva, physical trainer Walmir Cruz and analyst Dénis Lupp leave Santos with Carille.
The coach, who commanded the team for just under six months, helped the club avoid relegation in the Brazilian Championship last year, but could not resist the irregular start of the State Championship.
At Paulista, Santos is in second place in Group D, with nine points conquered, four less than the leader Red Bull Bragantino. The campaign in the tournament is two wins, three draws and two defeats.
Fábio Carille arrived in September last year to replace Fernando Diniz and led the team in 25 games, with nine wins, nine draws and seven defeats – a 48% success rate.
