Notice regarding the four-point deduction penalty imposed on Nottingham Forest for breaching the league’s financial sustainability rules, issued by Premier League!
It confirms the immediate application of the punishment, which will see Nottingham drop into the relegation zone, while giving more details on the offenses that led to the deduction of points.
The Premier League announcement in detail:
“The independent Commission applied an immediate four-point deduction to Nottingham Forest for breaching the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) for the period ending in the 2022/23 season.
Nottingham Forest were referred to an independent Commission on 15 January after the club admitted they had breached the relevant PSR limit of £61m by £34.5m. The cap was lower than the £105m over the two seasons of the assessment period found in the EFL Championship. The case was heard under the new Premier League Regulations, which provide a fast-track timetable for PSR cases to be resolved in the same season as the complaint is issued.
The independent Commission determined the sanction following a two-day hearing held this month, where the club had the opportunity to detail a number of mitigating factors. The Commission found that the club had shown “excellent co-operation” in its dealings with the Premier League throughout the process.
The committees are independent of the Premier League and its member clubs. The members of the Committee were appointed by the independent Chairman of the Premier League Refereeing Committee”.
