Maksimovic: “I came to win titles and play in the Champions League with Panathinaikos”

Winning titles and participating in the Champions League were the motivations that drove him Nemanja Maksimovic in the agreement with Panathinaikos, as he clarified in his first statements after the start of the cooperation with the “greens”.

But I considered that the best for me and my family at the given moment of my career and for my life, Panathinaikos is the best choice of club, it is the best city and the best country to live. On whether he has spoken with Panathinaikos players to get information: “Yes, of course I spoke to several people who compete or have competed in the club and they told me the best. I spoke with Filip Djuricic, Filip Mladenovic and after that conversation it was clear that I want to come and help the team win titles and play in Europe.”

For what he knows about Panathinaikos: “I know enough because the Serbs are like a brother people to the Greeks. I’ve watched quite a few games. I know the team has gone years without winning the championship. It is important for all teams and certainly the top ones in Europe, like Panathinaikos, to win titles. I hope we can do it. And of course I believe that Panathinaikos can win the championship in the current season as well. For me, the most important thing in these three years that I will be here is to win the league and participate in the Champions League with this fantastic club and this fantastic world.”

On how he would describe himself competitively: “The most important thing for me is that I always try to give my best, give 200% in every game. Sometimes I play well, sometimes badly, but I always give my best. I try to help my teammates get better.”

For the key point in his discussions with Panathinaikos: “As I said before, the important thing is that this is a big team that has years to win the championship and there is a good plan. The sports director and the club in general do everything and prepare everything to win titles. For me it is very important that they presented me not only the plan for next season, but the plan for the next three years, something extremely important for any footballer.”
