Ataman: “Sometimes we play with six players and we are 90% efficient – We are 2nd and we want to stay”

How important tomorrow’s game against Virtus Bologna is for both teams was pointed out by Ergin Ataman in his statements at the departure of the Panathinaikos AKTOR mission for Italy.

The Turkish coach admitted that it is important for the team and himself that all the players on the roster are now available and emphasized that the goal of the “greens” is to remain in second place in the Euroleague standings until the end of the regular season.

“I expect a difficult game. It is a very important match for both teams. The last three games in the regular season will be like finals. Now we are in second place and our goal is to try to defend it. I have huge respect for coach Banky, Virtus has a lot of experienced players and they play at home. It plays differently at home than away games. I expect a difficult match, we have to play as a team, distribute the ball and certainly play an aggressive defense like we did in OAKA”reported on the game and continued, stressing that sometimes the team can use as few as six players in games, but still the team’s performance reaches quite high performance levels.

“It will be important to have options in all positions in terms of playing time and minutes. How we present ourselves is even more important than the fact that all the players are available. Sometimes we all play and we’re not good. Sometimes we play with six players, as happened in the last 2-3 games, and we are at 90% of our performance and we won the matches”concluded.
