Kargas: “We failed as a society, this is our biggest defeat – We were more happy that the National Team was eliminated”

by

Statements to be discussed and probably… big truths from him John Karga!

The Anorthosis defender, and former PAOK player, spoke to SuperLeague Voice about the exclusion of the national team from Georgia and the harsh criticism of his colleagues, stressing among other things: “Instead of being with them in a difficult time, I think we were more than happy, that we were excluded, to crack them, rather than passing by. Unfortunately, we are opposite the National team rather than with them. All this starts from society, however, because football is a microcosm of that».

In detail what he said:

I generally do not take a position on these issues, because I am one of those people who believe that the few cannot change the many, but there are times when you are indignant!

We have failed as a society, this is our greatest defeat. If the lads took the penalties we’d be a good team because they missed them but we’re bad! I am not with a coach, I am with the children, who go there and represent my country, me, all of us.

Instead of being with them in a difficult moment, I think we were more happy, that we were excluded, to crack them, than to pass. Unfortunately, we are opposite the National team rather than with them. All this starts from society, however, because football is a microcosm of that.

It won’t change the career of Bakaseta or Giakoumaki if they miss a penalty, the only thing that changes is in our heads. Shame on these guys, who are on the receiving end of this psychological and online bullying, because I’ve been through it myself. It can’t change your career if you get a red card or miss a penalty.

Our mentality is what drives me crazy, no player changes for a penalty, it will remain the same personality, the same person.

Everyone cries that we lost to Georgia and says, which Georgia? Where we went and got the Euro. It is incredible! So, should Portugal, France and those others who lost to us then, put them in the square and beat them? But these countries are successful because they have education. We forget easily».
