From… party to advantage to advantage o Olympic and everything will be judged in the City!

The “red and white” were imposed 3-2 (from 3-0) by Fenerbahce in “G. Karaiskakis” and go into next week’s second leg with a lead to seal a ticket to the semi-finals of Conference League.

THE Fortune wrote with a beautiful shot the 1-0 in the 8th minute, while he made the second, which was done by Jovetic with a shot at 32′. Piraeus went to the locker room with a clean score after an excellent first 45 minutes, in which they presented themselves almost flawlessly. THE Chikinio set fire to “G. Karaiskakis” with a diagonal shot in the 57th minute, after a collaboration with El Kaabi after good pressing by the Greek team.

Subsequently Fenerbahce fought back and reduced damage. Retsos made a cheap mistake, tripping Osagi-Samuel and o Tadic with a penalty he reduced the score in the 68th minute. Six minutes later, Kahvetsi scored from close range after Olympiakos’ defense was inactive, for 3-2. Olympiacos held on in the final stretch and prevailed over the Turks.

In the coach’s mind

With aggressive 4-2-3-1 lined him up Olympic Jose Luis Mendiliber. Tzolakis was kept under the posts, Karmo and Retsos were in the center of the defense, while Rodinei and Ortega were at the ends. Ese and Ciquinho in midfield, with Masoura, Fortuni and Jovetic making up the trio behind El Kaabi.

With 4-3-3 Fenerbahce. Livakovic was under the posts. Shoyunchu and Betsao the two stoppers, with Osagi-Samuel (right) and Ostervelde (left) at the ends of the defense. Zaits, Krunic and Simanski the trio in midfield, with Kahvetsi and Tadic in the “wings” and Dzeko at the top.

The match

With the headquarters giving him momentum, o Olympic he wanted to enter the match strongly, creating intensity, both in traffic and in his pressure, staying high up the field. In the 1st minute, Piraeus had a suspected chance, with Retsu’s deep ball for Jovetic, making it difficult for the visitors’ defense, but Bekao cleared, with Livakovic out of position.

The first good moment came from Fenerbahce, which unfolded nicely on the counter at the mercy of the quality it has in midfield, with Tadic finding the ball outside the area Jackowho found space to volley, but o Karmo was in the path of the ball and moved away.

In the beginning, the Fenerbahce found a way to break Olympiakos’ pressing, which wasn’t as coordinated, but also because he didn’t have as many quick feet to do it. The first time they managed to press properly, with Masoura who specializes in this part, giving the signal, Piraeus did the damage. THE Fortune he became the recipient of the ball just outside the area, it took the visitors a while to fall on him and with a nice shot he left no room for Livakovicwho saw the ball find the side netting on his right side.

From that point on, we saw another game. THE Olympic he got the reins of the match, completely controlled the tempo of the match and was not threatened for a long time. THE Fenerbahce showed irritation in the first period after 1-0, who it led her to make cheap mistakeswhile the plus for the Piraeus was the fact that they had taken Tadic out of the match.

At 16′, Piraeus had a good moment, from which they could have taken something. Masouras and Jovetic worked well together, with the Montenegrin bringing the Shoyunchuwho made a stop in the second phase and Livakovic blocked.

In the 27th minute, Olympiacos had a very good moment, with Karmos catching a nailed header after a corner and Livakovic having difficulty clearing the corner.

Four minutes later, Fenerbahce came out dangerously on the counter, with Kahvetsi to try to find Tadic, but Retsos read the phase and cut.

In the very next minute it was 2-0! The Piraeus circulated the ball nicely, Fortounis bent down and made a ball-hole for Jovetić who broke the offside nicely and scored from a lateral position to Livaković in the 32nd minute.

Fenerbahce’s best chance to do something after the 4th minute was in the 41st minute. The Olympiakos defense did not work well, having a slow comeback, with Simanski making a good move against the visitors and passing nicely to Tadic in the area and to the left, but the Serbian slipped and gifted the ball to the “red and whites” ». This was another sign of the fact that Tadic was not well.

In stoppage time, Kavechtsi troubled Olympiakos and took a foul in a very good position. He did it himself and sent the ball just wide, with the ball finding the outside of the net. This is how the epilogue was written in a first half in which Olympiacos was dominant, with the match going very well, given the proportions.

With the same recipe and the same momentum, he entered the second part Olympic and made a good moment in the 46th minute. Jovetic passed to Masura and he tried his foot from a difficult position, but Livakovic was ready.

In the 51st Olympic had a chance to make it 3-0. With the pressing he led Fenerbahce into error, o El Kaabi received the ballbut he didn’t see the unmarked Masura on the left who was going to come face to face with the home team and Shoyuntsu stopped him.

Finally, it was 3-0 a few minutes later. In the 57th minute, Piraeus pressed well again, Ese stole and this time El Kaabi passed for Chikinio who broke into the opponent’s area and beat Livakovic with a diagonal shot.

Fener reacted and did it well. He has the quality and players with class to do it and at some point it would happen. In the 61st minute came the first warning, with Osagi-Samuel to push into the area of Olympiakos, but Tzolakis told him “no”. Another big chance for the Turks followed two minutes later, with Simanski heading in from contact and Tzolakis making a brilliant save.

In the 67th minute, the guests counter-attacked. Retsos brought down the onrushing Osagi-Samuel to go offside. Tadic took over the execution, defeated Tzolakis and reduced.

The Piraeus they began to run out of strength, but the solutions from the bench did not come immediately. THE Tadic filled in 74′Giksek nipped the ball, with the Olympiakos defense idle and Kahvetsi executed Tzolakis with his right hand from close range.

The fourth that followed it was dramatic. Fener was now confident and so was Olympiacos began to regain strength and runs, with the entry basically of Horta and Kini, but also secondarily of El Arabi, Ibora. The latter escaped with his intervention in the 86th minute against Kahvetsi, when the Greek team he was not clear minded.

He regained it gradually and somehow “cleared” some phases, while he was able to make some counterattacks, without finding the big phase. After 90+1′, Fortounis lost possession with a bad counterattack. In the end, a good ending, all is well for Olympiakos.

Watch the film of the match here.

MVP: Kostas Fortounis. He pointed the way to victory, opening the scoring with a beautiful goal while serving Jovetic for 2-0. As long as he had powers he was very good. He came back in the end, though, even though there was no… fuel in the tank to help out defensively and clear balls. The hidden hero of Olympiakos is Tzolakis, who performed some very good operations. Both in the good periods of Piraeus, as well as in the dramatic part of the match.
