Run the “One Mile Run” and become a Champion of Love in the NFL Athens – Marinakou: “My motivation is the offer, not the record”

by

From May 15 to 19, 2024, the heart of the 8th NFL Athens will “beat” loudly in the OAKA Agora. In addition to the main Charity Run race, but also the demanding 100h and 24h Elite Ultra Run races, the rich race program of the leading festival of sports, entertainment and social contribution covers the needs of even the most simple runner who wants to contribute to “Together for Child”.

The 1-mile (1,609.34m) road race has been part of the NFL Athens program for three years to motivate professional runners to run to improve their records, as well as ordinary runners, who want to compete in the one mile recreational race to experience firsthand and help children in need!

Places are limited and those interested can register through the official event website nflathens.com by filling in the special form.

Anastasia Marinakou: “My goal is always victory, but the offer to “Together for the Children” is an extra motivation”

The absolute star of the one-mile race in 2023 was the Greek semi-endurance road champion, Anastasia Marinakou, who finished first with a time of 04:55:57. In fact, the performance was recognized as a pan-Hellenic record, as the route was certified by the world federation and the race was held in the presence of official SEGAS judges. While among the men, Panagiotis Petroulakis of GAS Ilissos finished first with a time of 04:40:05.

The middle distance champion of Panathinaikos, who a few days ago won the 12th Half Marathon of Athens and the Panhellenic championship with 1 hour 16:52 and indeed in her debut at this distance, is currently in South Africa in order to do the main part of her preparation with the aim of competing in the European Open Athletics Championships to be held in Rome.

Anastasia Marinakou, who in the 40th Authentic Athens Marathon did the three-peat in the 10km route, sends her own message through nflathens.com and invites us all to participate in the One Mile Run:

“I am Anastasia Marinakou. Champion of Greece in semi-endurance roads and holder of the course record in the one-mile race, included for the 3rd year in a row in the program of No Finish Line Athens. As last year, this year too I will be at the OAKA Market on Thursday, May 16 at 7:15pm. to run the ‘One Mile Run’.

By nature as an athlete my goal is always to win. So the one-mile race that takes place in the context of the 8th No Finish Line Athens, the leading charity road race in Greece, gives me an extra motivation to fight not only for the record but also to contribute with all of you to “Together for the child”.

The goal is one: to offer miles of Love to “Together for the Child”!”
