Olympiacos and Panathinaikos face each other for the fourth time in the series of finals of this year’s exciting Volleyball Leaguetonight at 18:00 at Rentis (ERT-3, sport-fm.gr, bwinSPORT FM) in the match that will decide whether there will be… coronation or extension in agony!
The “red and whites” lead the series of the finals with 2-1, having made an emphatic start to this year’s series, since in the first match they made the break by winning 3-0 in Metz’s closed game, while in the second they took advantage of their home ground and took the victory with the same score. Daniel Castellani’s team he has no injury problems with the Argentinian coach declaring for tonight’s match: “Tomorrow is another final at our home. We have another chance to win the championship. Well, the team is ready for such an important match. But just as important is how we play on our pitch, in front of our fans. We saw what our opponent changed in the previous match and worked on it. Therefore we have properly prepared for these conditions. So the whole team is in good shape and form and we are ready to fight again to win the championship.”
Among other things, statements about Olympiakos were also made by Raphael Koumentakis: “It is the second game we will play at home in a row. We want to put on a good performance and play as much volleyball as we can. Surely everyone knows that it could be the last game because if we manage to get the victory we will be crowned champions. For us, this is an additional motivation and we expect our people to be at the stadium to support us with their voices and together we will achieve a very big victory”.
On the other side, Panathinaikos took a breather in the third final by winning at tie break (3-2 sets) and goes to “Melina Merkouri” for the break and equalization. The “greens” are now living with the most important loss of Aguirre Ierethuelo, who has so far been deservedly replaced by Stavros Kasambalis. Although Panathinaikos this season he has not won in Rentis for the championship, he aims for a victory that will once again turn the tables on the epic duels of the two “eternals”.
The coach of Panathinaikos, Dimitris Andreopoulossaid about the fourth final: “We said immediately after the match in Metz that we won that we remain with our backs against the wall. This does not change and of course we have to make a soul deposit in Rentis to achieve the desired result. At the moment we choose not to talk at all and keep our minds all focused on the fourth final which decides a lot”.
