Statements ahead of the match between Aris and Panathinaikos (28/4, 20:30) for the 7th matchday of the Stoiximan Super League playoffs was made by Akis Manziosexpressing his satisfaction with the performance of his team against Olympiacos, stressing that he expects a good image from his players against the “greens” and clarifying that this match is not connected to the final of the Cup.
What Aris’ coach said in detail:
For the draw against Olympiakos: “It was a positive result, with a good image. That is the main thing for us, that we had a good image in this difficult game, at the given time. We played against a very strong and quality opponent, making several phases. We keep the good performance we had for most of the game.
In the playoffs, all games are derbies, against excellent opponents. We are not shaken, if we lose a game without playing good football, because we know our potential as a team. In such a case, we leave the game behind and work on the next one. Any positive result, however, is sure to boost the psychological mood of the team”.
For the game against Panathinaikos: “It will also be a difficult game, as was the previous one against Olympiakos. The opponent is very good. We will go and claim the best we can. This game is not connected to the final, however. The question for us is to have a good image again, but also to get a positive result. We want to close this cycle of games positively and then get ready for the finish, for the two games that will remain until the end of the playoffs. Panathinaikos has a special dynamic at home. I believe he will be looking for a reaction, because he is coming off a bad result. So, I expect a particularly difficult game, to which we must respond properly”.
