Spanoulis: “Sometimes defeats are more important than victories”

by

Peristeri bwin put up a “battle” against strong Murcia, but folded in the final minutes and lost 87-84, in the minor final of the BCL Final Four.

After the match, Vassilis Spanoulis he stated that he was proud of his players despite the two defeats, while emphasizing that sometimes the negative results are more important than the positive ones, as they are a lesson.

In detail what he said:

On what he keeps from the Final Four: “There are definitely a lot of positive things. As I’ve said many times, in basketball sometimes losses are more important than wins because you can learn a lesson and come back stronger. Once again we did not give up.

We came back from -16, 1-2 rebounds and one decision on offense can decide a game. I have no complaints from my players. We don’t have a lot of experience, but a lot of motivation and hunger. In both games both teams could win.

I’m very proud of my team, I’m very proud of my players and that’s what I told them in the dressing room. Sometimes you have to lose and learn lessons so you can come back and win more.”

For the biggest lesson learned by the bwin Pigeon: “Every possession is important. We have many good times and many bad times. You cannot have ‘dead’ moments in the game. There are moments when in defense we are very relaxed and we don’t have much communication.

This is also a matter of experience sometimes. It’s very important that everyone understands that every possession counts because in two games we missed the rebound on the last possession. It’s a good experience for the kids because if they have dreams, if they have a goal in their career, it’s normal that they want to come back, so they’ll have more experience and they’ll be more prepared.”

For fan recognition: “A huge thank you to our fans for coming here. It is amazing for the Pigeon to live in these moments. These are moments we will remember forever. Hopefully there will be more times when we are in the Final Four. We want them to be with us. It is a huge part of our success.”
