Disappointed with his time in the Panathinaikos stated the Alexander Geremegev. Speaking to Meso in his homeland, the Swedish striker emphasized how he feels “unfortunate and disappointed” who doesn’t get enough minutes on his feet, saying he wants to establish himself in a team.
In fact, he actually opens the door to the exit, since he states that “it’s not really a sustainable situation” for him at Panathinaikos.
-How is your family life in Greece?
“They are absolutely fantastic. We live in Voula and it is very pleasant. Greeks treat family and children with a lot of love. It’s enjoyable because you get to go out and see children and families. Laura goes to an international kindergarten where they speak English. At home he has learned some Serbian from my wife. She’s probably… trilingual. I don’t think he can distinguish languages, he just talks. When she talks to her grandmother, she unexpectedly switches to Serbian.”
-Can you move freely in the city?
“Yes enough. Some want to take pictures and get autographs. I can be quiet. The most annoying thing is that everyone asks why I don’t play more.”
– Have you talked to Fatih Terim about this? For your time?
“I felt really good every time I played. I felt unlucky and disappointed that there weren’t more minutes for me, because I honestly feel like I can do a lot more. No, I haven’t done that. Fotis Ioannidis is our best player. The first offensive option. Terim doesn’t need to explain this. The team was doing very well until a while ago, now at the end. All I can do is be ready.”
-Could there be a plan for the club to sell Ioannidis and then be more active?
“I don’t know how they think. But it is clear that Fotis, with what he does and his age, is an interesting target for big clubs. I don’t know what his ambitions are. I have proven that I can score many goals in a big team like Panathinaikos. So they know what they are getting from me. And I think that’s valuable.”
-What do you want? Where does your ambition lie?
“My ambitions are high and I want to play. I feel like I’m at the top, mentally and physically, of my career.”
-You want to find a way out of this I imagine. Can you imagine another season with just two games as a starter?
“No, that won’t work. I need to play more. I’d like to see how well I can do if I have more minutes. The league and the games here are fun, as is the European perspective. But I want to have an establishment, to have a continuity. Otherwise, there’s no point in stalling and then jumping in. There must be a plan for me. Panathinaikos knows it too. It’s not really a sustainable situation for me right now.
My feeling is that the club really likes me, as do the people of Panathinaikos. After all, a coach always brings out the team he considers the best, I respect that. He makes his choices and the team has progressed that way until now a bit at the end. But you can’t be with someone who doesn’t love you.”
