Karditsa, Larissa, Elassona, Karpenisi were filled with bicycles and children’s smiles as the PPC International Bicycle Tour passed

A Tour with a “royal” stage, like that of the 3rd day of the PPC International Cycling Tour of Greece 2024 in the magnificent Velouchi, attended by 174 countries around the world, impressing the television viewers, deserves to be communicated to the world of the regions through which it passes and through parallel actions.

The executives of the Cycling Greece Organizing Committee continue with the brilliant peloton their events throughout Greece.

The squares of the cities participating in the Tour are filled with people who come into contact with cycling, road safety and love for the environment.

After Thessaloniki, the Parallel Actions traveled on the two days of May 16 & 17, 2024, to Elassona, to the National Resistance Square & People’s Park, to Larissa to the Mezourlos Grove, to Karditsa to the Sports Park of the Municipal Stadium and to the central square of Karpenisi.

The children’s smiles and their great participation in the Parallel Activities were not affected even by the unstable weather conditions that prevailed.

Children’s smiles, excitement and colorful bicycles sent the most optimistic message for a future dominated by love for the environment and sustainable urban mobility.

In the Parallel Actions, the children crossed the original HERO 2030 skills track, dedicated exclusively to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. They competed in the “Home to School” floor bike snake, got excited about the bike treasure hunt “The lost peloton’s chest”, decorated the squares with their wonderful paintings on the theme of their love for the bike, learned about the Road Traffic Code and safe travel won wonderful prizes after raffles.

The Hellenic Red Cross and the Volunteer Samaritans had a special presence at the Parallel Actions, who presented first aid and the actions we can take as cyclists in cases of falls and injuries.

In Karpenisi, hundreds of children, elementary and high school students, flooded the central square and painted big hearts with “30 km” inside them, conveying a message of love for sustainable and safe mobility. With them participating in all the actions are the Regional Governor of Central Greece Fanis Spanos, the Deputy Regional Governor of Evrytania Aristides Tassios and the Mayor of Karpenisi Christos Kakavas.

In Karditsa, the mayor Vasilis Tsiakos proceeded with the Parallel Actions team to plant trees in the city’s Sports Park, in a symbolic move to protect the environment.

In Elassona there was a huge mobilization, Mayor Nikos Gatsas and his colleagues had planned and implemented excellent initiatives before the start of the sporting event!

Characteristic are the banners created with their own drawings inspired by the Tour by the students of the Municipality.

At the heart of the Parallel Actions is the PPC e-bike Festival, the largest festival exclusively for electric bikes, aimed at everyone, giving the opportunity to test a number of different categories of e-bikes for free.
