In the seizure of 11 tons of fake soccer jerseys intended to be sold in the country ahead of its final Champions League in London (1/6) between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund and of Euro 2024 in Germany next month, the Spanish police proceeded.

The counterfeit goods were detected after investigations on 15 trucks along with other counterfeit products such as luxury watches, leather goods and electronics, with an estimated market value of over six million euros.

The investigation began in April, when two tonnes of counterfeit Spanish football club shirts were seized from China.

The police discovered that one large cargo headed for Spain before the Champions League final and the Euro finals, and prompted an operation involving more than 20 officials.

They seized more than 36,500 fake sporting appearances of several Spanish and European – and not only – football clubs with names of top football players such as the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, the French Kylian Mbappe and several Spanish stars.

The counterfeit products were intended for various organizations based in Spain who planned to distribute them via street and online commerce.
