James Maddison was devastated after being cut from England’s Euro 2024 squad. The Tottenham midfielder broke out with a post on his personal account on X, considering that he had a place in a team consisting of 26 footballers, but in the end he wished that the “three lads” would return to the island with the trophy.
In fact, the “spurs” republished their footballer’s post, showing that they are “next to” their footballer.
What Madison said in detail:
“…devastated doesn’t adequately describe how I feel. I trained well and worked hard all week, but if I’m honest with myself, my form with Spurs, when I came back from injury in the second half of the season, probably wasn’t up to the levels I had set and that made Gareth make that decision.
I still thought there would be a place for me in a 26-man squad as I feel I bring something different and I was key throughout this qualifying phase for Euro 2024 in Germany, but the manager has made his decision and I have to respect it.
I will be back, I have no doubt. I wish the children good luck in Germany. It’s an incredible team and I literally call some of these players my best friends. I sincerely hope that football comes home.”
Devastated doesn’t quite cut it.
